Using Horses, DNR Committed to Delivering Perum BULOG's PPKM Rice Aid Phase 2 in Tana TorajaFri, 20 Aug 2021
SOUTH SULAWESI - The smiles and hopes of the community have been reflected on the faces of every Tana Toraja community, South Sulawesi, who have just received the Second Phase of PPKM Rice Assistance for the Non-Cash Food Assistance Program (BPNT) which has been distributed by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Perum BULOG, and DNR Corporation through its business unit, DNR Logistics as the transporter. Government Assistance for the Community During the Implementation of PPKM Level 4 This assistance from the Government is also part of a program that is currently being implemented to help meet the basic needs of the community in the midst of the implementation of the level 4 Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) policy in several regions. With the implementation of this policy, community activities and also the process of fulfilling the basic needs of the community in their daily lives have also been disrupted due to the limited activities that can be carried out. The implementation of this policy is certainly inseparable from the government's aim to save its citizens from being exposed to the COVID-19 virus. In addition, this policy is also carried out in order to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak so that it does not become more widespread. Furthermore, the rice distributed by Perum BULOG is medium quality rice with a weight of 10 kg per Beneficiary Family (KPM) community that has been recorded by the Ministry of Social Affairs previously. With the distribution of the rice assistance, the community felt helped to fulfill their daily basic needs during this PPKM period. "With the assistance of BB PPKM Phase 2 of the Non-Cash Food Assistance Program (BPNT) non PKH from the Government, we feel greatly helped by the rice assistance from the Government which is currently being implemented by PPKM which makes us obliged to stay at home," said Ruslan Effendi as a resident in Simbuang District, Tana Toraja who was met in his interview.
Ruslan Effendi, one of the residents in Simbuang Subdistrict, Tana Toraja, South Sumatra who received rice assistance from the Government sent by DNR Logistics. (Source: DNR) Ruslan also explained that the BB PPKM Phase 2 Non-Cash Food Assistance Program (BPNT) non-PKH that was distributed was a hope for small communities affected by the pandemic outbreak like the current situation. "We as small people who previously thought about where to get money from, where to eat during this PPKM, can now feel quite helped by the rice assistance we received at this time. We thank the Government for this assistance," he added. Good Coordination Between BULOG and All Related Parties in the Delivery Process The distribution of BB PPKM Phase 2 of the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) Non PKH Program is certainly inseparable from good coordination from all parties in order to distribute rice assistance quickly, smoothly, and right on target for people in need. "Perum BULOG coordinates with the Ministry of Social Affairs, the City District Government, and DNR as the transporter. Then prepare rice from the BULOG warehouse so that the implementation of the rice aid distribution can run smoothly," said a representative from Perum BULOG, Deltiani as the Tana Toraja Satker of the Southwest Sulawesi Regional Office in his statement. Answering challenges and facing various routes to succeed in every delivery mission is one of the commitments held by DNR Corporation together with its business unit, DNR Logistics as the transporter. This is reflected in what DNR Logistics did in the distribution of BB PPKM Phase 2 of the Non-Cash Food Assistance Program (BPNT) in Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi. Using Horses to Deliver Rice on Extreme Trails The DNR Logistics team used horse transportation to deliver PPKM rice aid from Perum BULOG to the community in Tana Toraja due to the extreme route. (Source: DNR) In the process of delivering the rice aid starting from the Bulog Tondolangi warehouse to Simbuang Subdistrict, DNR Logistics used 3 types of transportation equipment in the delivery, namely four-wheeled vehicles such as trucks and double cabin cars and horses as a means of delivery. The choice of transportation is of course inseparable from the extreme route in the delivery process. "To reach Simbuang, from the Tondolangi warehouse we use trucks to get to Rembon Subdistrict. Then from Rembon Subdistrict to Simbuang Subdistrict using a double cabin car which takes approximately 6 to 7 hours because the terrain is quite difficult where it passes through almost 3 to 4 mountains or hills, and after arriving in Simbuang it is also continued by using horse facilities because some areas here cannot be accessed by other transportation vehicles," said Syamratul Fuadi as PIC DNR Logistics for the Sulawesi region. In addition to the long and difficult terrain, a total of approximately 3.91 tons of medium rice from Perum BULOG has been successfully distributed by DNR Logistics to the community in Simbuang District, Tana Toraja. Tana Toraja itself is one of the various regions in 15 provinces in Indonesia which is the distribution area of BB PPKM Phase 2 of the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) Program by DNR Logistics from the collaboration carried out together with Perum BULOG. Of course, this synergy is important to answer the needs of the community in the midst of a pandemic situation and the current conditions of PPKM implementation.
